  • No one takes women’s athletics more seriously than we do. Women athletes suffer sports injuries equal in intensity to their male counterparts. But women also face gender-related issues such as osteoporosis, stress fractures, pregnancy and postpartum issues, and more. We have the expertise to help.

Our Center has a top Female Physician-- a former College All-American Athlete

We have one of Virginia’s only fellowship-trained female sports medicine physicians, Dr. Katherine Dec, as well as a number of programs to help women and girls play strong and meet their performance goals — whatever their sport, age, or skill level.

Dr. Dec has years of international experience as well as experience in treating both female and male athletes and in particular she understands the priorities & needs of female athletes.

Special Female Athletic Issues Deserve Special Attention

Women suffer from a decrease in bone loss, stress fractures, pregnancy and postpartum issues as well as what is called, the female athlete triad. The "triad" is a combination or a cycle that includes disordered eating, amenorrhea (the loss of monthly periods) and osteoporosis, which is a weakening of the bones.

Women's Sports Medicine at CJW has the only certified and experienced physical therapist in Pilates.
